As Director, Microsoft’s Virtual Earth Public Sector team, Robert Roy is responsible for the introduction and adoption of Virtual Earth to worldwide Public Sector customers. In this role, Mr. Roy leads a global team of sales and marketing professionals with the mission of driving adoption of Virtual Earth as the premier mapping application development platform for Public Sector data visualization applications.

With more than 20 years in hardware and software solutions for complex business problems including virtualization, situational awareness and collaboration, Mr. Roy brings a wealth of experience to his position and is ideally qualified to help organizations augment their decision-making processes with collaborative geospatial technologies.

Prior to his role at Microsoft, Mr. Roy directed the Public Sector division of Groove Networks, a leading provider of collaboration software led by Ray Ozzie. During his tenure there, Mr. Roy succeeded in gaining widespread adoption of the company’s virtual office technology across worldwide Government organizations, enabling a next-generation infrastructure for cross-organizational information sharing.
Early in his career, Mr. Roy served in various capacities in the US Navy, IBM, Oracle helped lead several startups to IPO and acquisition.
